Even though this is an older post it deserves a comment. Part of the reason &quot;Van Gogh&#039;s Ear&quot; is taboo is because it is so nebulous and seemingly subjective.  Cancer is obvious to the machines.  Depression isn&#039;t.

Until they get a brain scan or a blood test that says &quot;depressed,  you must have &#039;Van Gogh&#039;s Ear&#039;&quot; the taboo will remain. IMHO. FWIW.

And yes I am putting a name to it to take the taboo away, as you suggested in another post.
